83E1 2004 V-TEC/Ford Light Rescue





Newbury Fire Department's rescue truck (83 Rescue 1) a 2004 VTEC/Ford 550 4WD has a 4 person crew cab and walk-in rescue body with considerably more space for rescue equipment than the old truck. It is also equipped with a generator to power four flood lights and a winch which can be mounted on the front or rear of the truck.
In addition to assorted medical equipment, 83 Rescue 1 carries 4 SCBA, fire extinguishers, water rescue suits, portable lights and cable, backboards and stokes, oxygen, defibrillator, Thermal imaging camera, and assorted rescue tools and equipment.
83-Engine 2 is a 1988 FMC Spartan Engine with a 1000 gpm pump and 1000 gallon tank which serves as the supply unit.
This truck carries 2,000 feet of 3 inch hose and 300 feet of 1 3/4 inch hose. In addition to fire hose, equipment carried on 83M2 includes 6 Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), a 24 ft ladder, 14 ft roof ladder, portable fire extinguishers, foam equipment, portable lights and cable, medical equipment and other assorted tools and equipment.

83-Engine 3 is a 2000 Freightliner with 1500 gallon pump and a 1500 gallon tank which serves as the primary attack unit.
This unit carries 1,000 feet of 3 inch hose, 250 feet of 1 3/4 inch hose and 100 feet of 2 1/2 inch foam hose. In addition to fire hose, equipment carried on 83M3 includes 8 Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), a 35 ft ladder, 14 ft roof ladder and folding attic ladder, portable fire extinguishers, air bags, exhaust fan, chain saw, portable lights and cable, medical equipment, hydraulic rescue tools and other assorted tools and equipment.
83-Engine 4, A 1978 Ford L8000 Engine with a 1000 gpm pump and carrying 1,500 feet of 3 inch hose.

83 Tanker 1, a 1977 International 1600, is the department's tanker and supports the pumps with additional water. This truck will be replaced in late 2008 with a new tanker which is on order.
The Newbury Fire Department utilizes Car 1, this former Newbury Police vehicle, as a command vehicle and for transportation to training, meetings and in response as necessary
The Newbury Fire Department also operates 83-Boat 1, a 24 ft Winninghoff Star aluminum Fire/Rescue boat on Lake Sunapee. The boat has dual 250 gpm pumps that can operate from the boat or supply water to the engines on shore. The boat is the only fireboat on the lake and provides mutual aid fire protection and rescue support to the towns of Sunapee and New London. The boat is kept at the department's dock in Newbury Harbor, near the information booth on Route 103, about 1/4 mile from the fire station. It is in service on Lake Sunapee from early May through November.
With the cold weather, 83B1 is no longer in the water, but remains available on a trailer in the fire station. In the event of a fire on the lake prior to it freezing over, the boat can be quickly launched and respond.
83 Boat 2, shown here next to Boat 1, is a 17' open boat that can be trailered to other lakes within the town as well as used on Lake Sunapee.
